Embroidered Thread Paintings by Claire Pongonis

Claire Pongonis, is an artist who works primarily in cotton fiber and oil pastels. Her current work focuses on landscape-inspired embroidery paintings stitched on translucent fabrics that feature the directional movement of the embroidery floss, blocks of rich color, and the stitched foreground that contrast against the negative space created by the transparency of the fabric. Each piece it’s own little love letter to the places she has traveled and the vibrant colors of nature.
