The Earthy Colors of Wild Ozark Pigments
Artist: Madison Woods — Wild Ozark
Madison Woods, of Kingston, Arkansas, considers her practice to be a partnership with the land. Since 2018 she has been working with paints that she makes by hand from the very soul of the earth: ocher rich stones, soot, and charred bone. Her subjects are drawn from nature, and while her palette is limited, the earthy colors lend an old-world look to her entire portfolio.
