Erica Frame is self taught artist that specializes in entomology/insect art and woodburning. Her business name plays off of these two mediums and hence the name Burnt and Pinned. She also enjoys painting and other mediums when she has time. Her love of old things inspired her to incorporate alot of vintage items into her art as much as possible, some of her favorite items to repurpose are convex/bubble glass frames, candleholders and other ornate frames. She upcycles and repurposes those items to showcase her insect displays or paintings to create unique pieces of art. She is also obsessed with old fabric designs like damask and jacquard and uses these patterns often to add a background to her framed insects. The candleholders make a perfect base for her nature curiosity displays too. All of her insects are always sourced sustainably and only by trusted vendors that she screens and researches extensively that often comes from conservation farms or hobbyist breeders. Erica uses as much natural materials as possible in her art like wood, real dried flowers, moss and other foliage that she often times forages and preserves herself. She would describe her woodburnings as bringing nature and surrealism together creating sometimes odd and strange pieces. Alot of her inspiration for woodburned pieces come from pictures she take in her garden or hikes and the love for the odd and peculiar.
