Assemblage Sculptures by James Sawyer

James K. Sawyer has a BFA from the University of Nebraska. During his time in school he was given an assignment to build a three dimensional “Pandora’s Box.” That was the beginning of a life long passion for the assemblage art form.

His assemblage sculptures are created from any type of objects or materials. Jim says: “The only limits are the ones I put on myself. I lean towards using materials of interesting shape, surface, texture and that appear to have a history or story of their own. Creating assemblage is like participating in a “think tank” for junk.” Each of Jim’s pieces is like a puzzle with an undetermined number of pieces and factors. They are finished only when they give the artist the “thumbs up”.
