betrayal – Acrylic painting of my fridge at night, depicting the way my body betrays me and my fear of the dark with its constant need for hydration. just turn on the fan already – Acrylic painting of a door that doesn’t exist. I tried to establish a feeling of unease, depicting the door from a disjointed perspective with abstract coloring, to represent the feelings I get at night, when it’s so quiet your brain makes up sounds to fill the silence. Licorice!! – Watercolor with multi media accents depicting my love for licorice! I’ve been practicing stylized art, and this is one of my favorite pieces to come from…

I identify myself as an expressive, tinkering, process artist. My work is a cauldron of mixed experiences, interests, and inspirations. Because I experiment in such a variety of media, genres and subject matter it’s difficult to categorize my work. Completed compositions are the end result of a curiosity or interest in a specific technique, medium, style or process. I am drawn to the non-traditional and unorthodox. I pull inspiration from the mystery behind moralizing stories, spiritual beliefs from all cultures, historic events, scientific experiments, Gothic architecture and cinema, specifically classic horror and Sci-Fi films. Creative Colorful Coverings & Creations…
As an artist, I’ve always drawn faces in pencil, colored pencils, or ink. This particular project initially started from a challenge to myself, when looking at a gallon water jug. “What can I make from this”? The answer… a plastic mask! The naturally curved or easily curved pieces are connected with staples and duct tape, then painted with acrylic colors. Beaked bird faces seemed to have endless possibilites. Then another challenge. If this handle was a small insect body, then left & right would be it’s big wings… and if you turned the jug inside out… clearly a butterfly emerges!
