Preparing for Attack
My inspiration for this mural came from the biological products Pel-Freez makes. I have a fascination with the network of characters that make up our immune system and Pel-Freez’s products are built on those characters. Two key players involved when the immune system is “preparing for attack” are B cells, shown in the mural as blue spheres, and their membrane bound antibodies, shown as colorful Y shaped structures. You’ll find these two characters traveling through a winding bloodstream, amidst other blood components, in their search for foreign invaders.

Exposed
Driven to capture the mist, I followed it around the bend one morning, through the pass, and into the valley. I was inspired by the atmosphere and sense of timelessness. By adding texture and dimension reminiscent of the collodion wet plate process, I aimed to capture the raw beauty and create a sense of exposure. Visually blurring the line between the past and present. “We do not see nature with our eyes, but with our understandings and our hearts.” – William Hazlitt
