“My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” Mark 14:34
“Abba, Father,” [Jesus] cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Mark 14:36

Jesus wept real tears, was in anguish, and even fell to the ground praying. While we aren’t asked to die on a cross for the sins of the world, we experience grief and suffering. Sometimes our struggling and pain is so unbearable, we do fall to the ground and beg God to remove it. But Jesus “repurposed” His pain and tears for you and me. He wanted nothing more than to please His Father God. Is it possible that our tears can be “repurposed”.? The Bible says we can develop a new sense of purpose and know, that “after we have suffered a little while, [God] will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation.”
1 Peter 5:10b
Amen. So be it.
Father God, repurpose the pain. Recycle the tears. Restore and strengthen my soul.
