Each work is a snapshot taken on road trips across the country from 2018-2022. The words painted across each work are inspired by prophetic female poets Naomi Shihab Nye, Ada Limón, Mary Oliver, and Katie Crutchfield. I’m interested in art as an emotional, mental, and social practice. My greatest form of connection with myself and others includes art, nature, poetry, and emotion. The past couple of years, I have been sitting in spaces and rooms as a new therapist, acting as witness to other’s stories. Part of my work is helping others to feel brave enough to feel and to share all their details and parts. When they do, what they believe would destroy them does instead excavates new parts, new connection, new grace, love, empathy, compassion, and more. The It All Belongs celebrates the emotions, places, and words that keep us connected.
