Each work is a snapshot taken on road trips across the country from 2018-2022. The words painted across each work are inspired by prophetic female poets Naomi Shihab Nye, Ada Limón, Mary Oliver, and Katie Crutchfield. In the past 1 1/2 years of creating wheel thrown pottery, my goal has always been to create functional pottery that has a dreamy quality to it. My favorite focuses are in the glaze work, and with texture, however, I am currently also dabbling in creating marbelized looks in pottery with Oxides, Stains and Carbonates.

This is “Blue Eyes”. A challenging composition of contrast. That’s what caught my attention when I first saw her. Her eyes draw you in. While everything else fades into the canvas. People always ask, “how long does it take to paint something like this?” I respond with the usual answer, 72 years.

This young lady is my granddaughter. I captured her without her knowing it. To me these make the best compositions.
