Celebrating Abilities/ Autism Awareness Month
Life Styles is a non-profit organization that enthusiastically supports individuals with intellectual disabilities in reaching their full potential as contributing members of their community. The artists of Life Styles are able to explore their creative abilities. Art has paved the way for our students to communicate and express their thoughts and feelings. Celebrating Abilities consists of landscapes and portraiture taught by Roz Waiwaiole and Joelle Storet.

Both were painted on top of recycled California Maos that were donated to my school for art students. Fallen Angel is a depiction of the world I see around me while Angel of Delusion is a depiction of what I see in myself, both comfort and desperation.

Repurposed
Liz Cox works in acrylic, mixed media, collage, and hand-made paper. Her work ranges from semi-abstract landscapes to more textural intuitive paintings, which invite the viewer to interpret the work. Many of her paintings are layer upon layer of color, texture, markings, glazes or paper that create depth and a sense of history…that something else came before the layer seen on the surface. Liz lives and works in Rogers where she enjoys the colors, patterns, and textures of the world around her and is inspired by the beauty of the “extraordinary ordinary” of God’s creation. She studied graphic design at the University of Arkansas and earned her Bachelor of Arts…
